Hello!!

Hi my name is Amanda and I live in New York City with my husband Jared and two children Vance and Sadie. I have always had a love for food and travel, which I definitely inherited from my dad who was a chef and owner of a popular waterfront restaurant and in his off season traveled to some amazing places. I have fond memories of working in the restaurant, learning the ins and outs of the hospitality business and having the opportunity to travel throughout childhood both with family and as a competitive gymnast. Fast forward to college years, on a birthday trip to New Orleans (my first time), I quite literally stumbled into what would soon be my husband. A native New Orleanian with a love of cooking, during our 2 year long distance courtship, opened my eyes to an even greater love of food and culture. New Orleans, for those who have never been is a magical place, mixed with so many cultures and customs. The smell of food, the sound of music and the excitement of so many festivals and parades are the heartbeat of the city. After getting married in 2012, moving to Washington, DC for a brief period, we landed in New York City where we have lived for the past 10 years. The city has its ups and downs, and it’s certainly not for the faint of heart, but it has an energy like non other. A true melting pot, it has something for everyone, from everywhere. It’s the only place that I am aware of that you can be transported to so many different places in the world just by visiting a neighborhood. No passport needed. And so, in this blog, I hope to not only introduce you to some of the amazing food and culture of my city, but to take you along on my journeys with my family as we eat, stroll and discover new things together!
